Effect of Azospirillum brasilense and Pseudomonas striata and carbofuran singly or in association on the yield of sorghum bicolor.

2010
Inoculation with both the strains of Azospirillum barasilense I (201) and II (251) resulted in the increase in the number of Azospirillum in the rhizosphere. At harvest maximum population was 12.4x10g) dry soil with A. brasilense (201), and (251) maximum population 19.8x10g/dry soil was obtained with carbofuran + Azosprillium brasilisense strain (251). A. brasitense II Strain 251 gave the highest height 69.5cm and leaf area 31.5 cm at 40 days of growth. Dry weight of leaf 3.10g. and dry weight of stem 2.80g, 2.77% Nitrogen in leaf was highest in the treatment with carbofuran + A. brasilense II-251, +P. striata. This treatment also increased the height, dry weight of stem and leaves also significantly. A. brasilense strain 251 proved better than strain 201.
