Linear lichen planopilaris of the face

2005
A 44-year-old man had a 6-month history of an asymptomatic linear erythematous lesion on the right cheek. Examination revealed a linear 0.8 × 8.0 cm area of erythematous follicular papules and atrophy on his right cheek with loss of beard hairs (Fig. 1). The oral mucosa, scalp hair, axilla, pubis, and nails were normal. A biopsy specimen showed a thin epidermis with orthohyperkeratosis. The stratum granulosum was normal. At the dermoepidermal interface hydropic degeneration with sporadic Civatte bodies was observed. In From the Department of Dermatology, University Hospital Nijmegen.
