Increasing the effectiveness of random quality control of nuclear power plant (NPP) metal

1981
In order to increase the effectiveness of random control of metal weld joints in the process of operation of a nuclear power plant, certain processes are advantageous. It is important to determine the elements of the equipment or their areas in which the metal has the greatest tendency toward brittle damage. Deformation methods should be used to determine tensile strengths and yield limits of separate areas of weld connections and bends, and in some cases, of the basic metal. It is also important for weld joints of austenite steel pipes that the concentration of ferrite in the pipe metal be considered. (JMT)
