Untersuchungen an der isolierten Descemetschen Membran

A combined, mechanical-chemical method for the isolation and chemical analysis of Descemet’s membrane is described. The results indicate absence of hydroxyproline in the protein components. Therefore, the proteine of Descemet’s membrane cannot be identical with or similar to collagen. It is supposed that the hydroxyproline in the descemet membrane in the earlier investigations, which are reported, represents contamination from collagen fibers.
