Method of evaluating correspondence of spleen dimensions to norm or deviation from it in children from 3 to 15 years old by method of ultrasonic diagnostic

2014
FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: ultrasonic examination (US) of the spleen is carried out with the determination of its length and width. A criterion index by which a conclusion about the norm or pathology of the spleen is made is determined. As the criterion index applied is the area of the maximal longitudinal section of the spleen, which is evaluated, applying parameters of the length and width of the spleen, obtained by US, by formula: S=0.S×l×h+0.5, where S is the area of the maximal longitudinal section of the spleen, cm 2 ; l is the length of the spleen, cm; H is the width of the spleen, cm. The obtained value is used to evaluate the correspondence of the spleen dimensions to the norm or deviation from it depending on the child's age and sex. Basing on the following the normative indices: for 3-4 year old children the area of the maximal longitudinal section of the spleen in ranges 13.3-23.9 cm 2 corresponds to the norm; for 5-6 year old children- the said area in ranges 14.3-27.8 cm 2 corresponds to the norm; for 7-8 year old children - the said area in ranges 16.3-32.4 cm 2 corresponds to the norm; for 9-10 year old children- the said area in ranges 17.8-36.8 cm 2 corresponds to the norm; for 11 year old children- the said area in ranges 21.6 -38.9 cm 2 corresponds to the norm; for 12-14 year old children and for 15 year old girls- the said area in ranges 23.3-44.8 cm 2 corresponds to the norm; for 15 year old boys- the said area 32.2-50.0 cm 2 corresponds to the norm. EFFECT: method provides accurate, informative, safe ultrasonic evaluation of the spleen dimensions correspondence to the norm or deviation from it for children, including those with a deviation of anthropometric indices from the norm, with the simultaneous provision of a possibility of determining the normal or pathological dimensions of the spleen in dynamics. 2 cl, 1 dwg, 7 tbl, 3 ex
