Supercontinuum broad-band light sources for bio-optics

This work considers the characteristics which characterize a supercontinuum and makes it a superior light source for some applications than traditional lightsources. Then the difference between a supercontinua generated using continuous wave or ps pulses is considered. As examples two setups for generating these types of supercontinuum are presented together with the spectra that they generate.
