Assessing Critical Success Factors of Public Private Partnership Projects in Nigerian Construction Industry

Globally, Public Private Partnership are increasingly adopted in the procurement and delivery of Public infrastructure. Most of the projects have been successfully completed. Factors responsible for the success are not clearly highlighted. This study assessed the critical success factors of PPP projects in Nigeria. The study adopted the survey method. A total number of 358 questionnaires were administered to Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Engineers and Project Managers involved in PPP projects. 109 questionnaires were correctly completed and were analyzed. The results show that government policies ranked highest with a grand mean of 4.13. the study also indicated that in order of importance, Competitive procurement process, Government involvement by providing guarantees and transparency in the procurements process emerged as being the most important in successful PPP projects. The study recommends thatthe identified Critical Success factors should be considered by the stakeholders involved in PPP projects in determining and advising their PPP policy developments. Government policies should be supportive of PPP projects to ensure successful completion of PPP projects in Nigeria and attract investors to the initiative.
