Synthesis of star-shaped poly(p-dioxanone) by pentaerythritol

A novel star-shaped poly(p-dioxanone)(ssPPDO) was synthesized by the ring-opening polymerization of p-dioxanone(PDO) initiated by pentaerythritol using stannous octoate as catalyst in bulk.The effect of temperature,reaction time,the molar ratio of monomer to initiator and monomer to catalyst on the polymerization was studied.The results showed that the molecular weight of ssPPDO could be accurately controlled by the adjusting the feed ratio of PDO to PTOL.The structure of ssPPDO was determined by 1H-NMR.
