Der neue dynamische Fahrsimulator der BMW Fahrzeugforschung / The new dynamic driving simulator of BMW verhicle research

Fahrsimulation wird seit ueber zehn Jahren bei BMW betrieben. In dieser Zeit entstanden zunaechst ein statischer und ein dynamischer Simulator mit selbst entwickelter Fahrsimulationssoftware. In den letzten Jahren wurde mit grossem Aufwand der Ausbau der Fahrsimulation betrieben. Ein Ergebnis ist der neue dynamische Fahrsimulator der BMW Group Forschung und Technik. In der aktuellen Ausbaustufe ist auf einem grossen Hexapodsystem eine Plattform mit Fahrzeug montiert. Die Fahrersicht nach vorne ist ueber drei Plasmabildschirme realisiert. Die neue Fahrsimulationssoftware ermoeglicht die Verwendung eines im Netzwerk verteilten, heterogenen Rechnersystems. Schwerpunkt der Weiterentwicklung wird unter anderem die Optimierung der Bewegungsdarstellung sein. In der naechsten Ausbaustufe wird der Simulator mit einem Dom ausgestattet, der ein hochwertiges Projektionssystem beinhaltet. (A) ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH: Since more than 10 years BMW is dealing with driving simulation. A fixed base as well as a dynamic simulator were built up. To run these simulators BMW developed its own driving simulation software. In the past years much effort was put into the extension of the driving simulation technology. One of the results obtained is the new dynamic simulator installed at the BMW Group Research and Technology Laboratory. In the current status a platform with a vehicle on top is mounted on a hexapod system. For the front view of the driver three plasma screens are used. With the new driving simulation software it is now possible to use distributed computers of different types operating within a network. One of the major topics of future development will be the optimisation of the motion capabilities with respect to the subjective human perception. In the next performance stage the simulator will be equipped with a dome fitted with a high quality visual system.
