Gestão de resíduos de serviços de saúde de hospitais e laboratórios clínicos do município de Chapadinha- Ma e seus possíveis impactos para o meio ambiente e a saúde humana

ABSTRACT Hospital solid waste, mainly called hospital waste, can become a human health problem and an affected environment, mainly due to the lack of information from the population about its specificities, causing a great health risk. Therefore, consider hazardous and harmful the disposal of waste in both liquid and solid state, due to their peculiarities, various hazards, as these corrosive items, some are flammable and may exhibit reactivity with water, causing explosions and fires, compounds. volatile organics (VOCs), toxic generated gases that harm human health as well as the entire environment involved. The objective of this paper is to analyze the collection, handling and disposal of waste from hospitals and medical laboratories, as well as possible irregularities in the treatment and final destination of waste by public agencies in the municipality of Chapadinha-MA, which affect the environment and human health. . The methodology of this study is based on a quantitative approach, and can be applied in five hospitals and six clinical analysis laboratories, and in the organs administered by the collection, handling and final disposal of health care waste in the municipality of Chapadinha - MA. Therefore, improperly disposing of health care waste (SSR) in addition to causing major damage to the population affects the environment, harms the soil due to soil contamination and groundwater.
