Land conflcts can be considered as a kind of social conflcts and economic conflcts. This article reviews land conflcts that arise in the process of urban development activities. Land conflcts can be divided based on nature, activities, sectors. Various aspects of the interaction of government and society in the fild of urban development are the subject of sociology and conflctology. Land conflcts are factors of ownership restrictions, lobbying interests of certain groups, territorial planning with little consideration of public opinion, and housing cost issues for objects located close to linear facilities. Complex sociological analysis can identify economic components, property interests among the causes of conflct taking as an example conflcts over the construction in Moscow and reserving of land for public use. The article reviews the experience of roundtables to address conflct situations. The author presents the results of a sociological survey of the ginger group in one ofMoscow’s districts, which are analyzed on the basis of conditions conducive to conflct. Legal and economic mechanisms to resolve land conflcts in urban development activities need improvement in light of the sociological and specifi conflctological studies. The author offers directions of legal regulation and study the impact of conflct on investment activity.
