DeepL y su potencial para el desarrollo de la capacidad de análisis crítico en la clase de Traducción inversa

espanolEn nuestras clases de traduccion inversa hemos observado que los alumnos poco experimentados confian de manera casi ciega en el traductor automatico DeepL, alentados por el lema de la propia empresa, que lo define como «el mejor traductor del mundo». Nos hemos propuesto corregir el uso indiscriminado del programa y promover un aprendizaje que se centre en dos objetivos: (1) Que el alumno valore la competencia traductora humana por encima del potencial de DeepL. (2) Que el alumno tome consciencia de la necesidad de una serie de actuaciones para asegurar el uso seguro del traductor automatico. A este efecto, organizamos los ejercicios en tres fases: a) fase de activacion: partimos de traducciones fallidas, ofrecidas por el programa, enfocadas a reforzar la autoestima del estudiante; b) fase de profundizacion: con la ayuda de un catalogo de preguntas concisas, intentamos sensibilizarle para las prestaciones ofrecidas por el programa; y c) fase de consolidacion: se organiza el saber adquirido en las fases anteriores. EnglishIn our translation classes (Spanish into German) we have observed that students with little experience rely almost blindly on the automatic translator DeepL, encouraged by the company's own motto, which defines it as “the best translator in the world”. We set out to curb the indiscriminate use of the programme and to promote learning that focused on two objectives: (1) That the student learns to value human translation competence above DeepL's potential; and (2) That the student becomes aware of the need for a series of actions to ensure the safe use of the automatic translator. To this end, we organize the exercises in three phases: a) activation phase: we start from failed translations, offered by the program, focused on reinforcing the student's self-esteem; b) follow-through phase: with the help of a catalogue of concise questions, we try to sensitize them to the services offered by the program; and c) consolidation phase: the knowledge acquired in the previous phases is compiled and discussed.
