Study on wood fiber-cement composites.

2010
Waste polystyrene particles were added to the mixture of cement and wood fiber, and wall composites were prepared by the approach of casting moulding. The effects of water cement ratio, fiber fraction, and polystyrene fraction on the composites performance were evaluated and presented in this study. The results show that both flexural strength and compressive strength decrease with the increase of water-cement ratio, and adding wood fiber can effectively reduce the density of fiber cement board. Therefore, under the premise of ensuring the workability of the slurry, the smaller water-cement ratio, the better strength.Flexural strength and compressive strength would be improved when the wood fiber fraction is within a certain range.Water cement ratio, fiber fraction, and polystyrene fraction show different effects on mechanical properties of composites. The result of variance analysis shows that water cement ratio and fiber fraction have the main influence.Water cement ratio, fiber fraction, and polystyrene fraction on mechanical properties of composites are significant by SAS analysis.
