Application of Rescue Scheme in Treating Critical Surgical Patients

Objective To shorten the time to rescue critical surgical patients,and to improve the survival rate by surgical treatment.Methods A rescue scheme was established after the discussion and analysis of problems existing in operating room.With Disease Severity Grading Principle developed by Ministry of Public Health,surgeries performed on patients were classified into Grade A,B or C according to the patients' conditions;then a rescue scheme for critical surgical patients was built up.Results In 2011,with the application of surgical rescue scheme,the time spent on rescuing critically ill patients was reduced by 35.4 min;the number of patients rescued was increased obviously by 21.12%.The morbidity of surgical patients was reduced obviously and the utilization rate of operation rooms was increased by 1.52 cases per room.Conclusion Rescue scheme is effective for improving the management of and increasing the survival rate of critically ill surgical patients.
