Optimization in luminescent emission by extended quasi-planar and zigzag chainlike CuII-coordinated geometries

Abstract The quasi-planar trans-[Cu 3 II (phen) 2 (μ-IDC 3 − ) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ]·2H 2 O ( 1 ) and zigzag chainlike {[Cu 2 II (phen) 2 (μ-HIDC 2 − ) 2 ]·2H 2 O} n ( 2 ) are synthesized, and their crystal structures and solid-state photoluminescence are determined, which indicate that emission intensity can be enhanced and spectra shape can be narrowed by extended planar and octahedral Cu II -coordinated geometry separately.
