Absorbent body and method for producing same

This absorbent body (16) comprises a substrate sheet (12) and an absorbent core (14). The absorbent core (14) contains a water absorbent resin, a non-fibrous water-soluble polymer and a polyhydric alcohol. The water absorbent resin is contained in an amount of from 40% by mass to 95% by mass (inclusive) relative to the absorbent core. The non-fibrous water-soluble polymer is contained in an amount of from 0.1% by mass to 5% by mass (inclusive) relative to the water absorbent resin. The polyhydric alcohol is contained in an amount of from 300% by mass to 1,500% by mass (inclusive) relative to the non-fibrous water-soluble polymer. It is preferable that the non-fibrous water-soluble polymer is composed of one or more compounds selected from among polyvinyl pyrrolidones, polyvinyl butyrals and dextrins. It is also preferable that the polyhydric alcohol is composed of one or more compounds selected from among glycerol, propylene glycol and polyethylene glycols.
