From the role of the vitreous and crystalline phase for the microstructure of ceramic products, some paralleles are being developed, which can be found in different green structures, shaping methods and sintered materials. A differentiation is made between dynamic and static shaping processes. When the texture is formed for instance by dry-pressing shaping process, the final microstructure should be widely determined by the body granulometry. The knowledge of an optimal particles packing as well as atomic microstructures give orientations for the development of fine-grained textures. An envisaged bimodal granulometric structure has the function of a model for ceramic bodies and glazes under fast-firing conditions.
