Postural Disturbances in the Presence of the Dysfunction of the Masticatory System - Case Report Zaburzenia postawy ciała w przypadku dysfunkcji narządu żucia - opis przypadku

2004
Complexity of the etiopathological factors of the gingival recession makes it difficult to diagnose and treat this pathology. Operative treatment proves to be effective, provided that all the modifiable etiopathological factors are eliminated. The objective of this paper was to present a clinical case, in which the instability of coverage of the gingival recession by a subepithelial connective tissue graft occurred during a 3 months long observation period. It prompted the authors to make an extensive analysis of the potential factors causing this pathology. Due to the possible ascending or descending character of the dysfunctions of the motor system the following diagnostic means were used: temporomandibular joints manual examination, Kalteborn−Evjent segmentary examination of motor units of the spine, pelvis and peripheral joints and the Moire computer analysis of the body posture. The two years long observation of the patient showed stabilisation of the mandible position, lack of pain in the right hip joint and stopping of the recession. To maintain the results the patient was subjected to orthodontic therapy. These results indicate the need for interdisciplinary diagnostics of the masticatory organ dysfunctions complemented with test− ing of the spine and peripheral joints statics (Dent. Med. Probl. 2004, 41, 2, 305–312).
