Coherent PM RF Photonic Link Achieving Record SFDR Performance

A new record spurious free dynamic range (SFDR) performance was achieved by a coherent PM RF photonic link that employed a newly developed optical phase locked loop (OPLL) photonic integrated circuit (PIC) chip. With help of the OPLL PIC, the PM RF photonic link demonstrated a $\sim 130 dB\cdot Hz^{2/3}$ SFDR and a 3dB bandwidth of $\sim 1$ GHz. The combined SFDR and bandwidth performance represents $\sim $ one order of magnitude improvement over the prior state-of-the-art PM RF photonic links.
