The invention accelerates the calculation of a disparity map of a stereo film by judging the similarity of former and later frames of the stereo film. In a first stage, the color similarity of pixels in the former and later frames is compared; in a second stage, a plurality of characteristic points are selected from the former frame so as to find out positions of the characteristic points in the later frame, and an average displacement value of the characteristic points in the former and later frames is calculated; and if the former and later frames are similar to each other, the disparity map of the next frame can be obtained according to the disparity map of the former frame, and thus the calculation of the disparity map of the stereo film can be accelerated. By applying the method for calculating the disparity map of the stereo film, the operating time can be reduced and the calculation speed of the disparity map of the stereo film can be increased; furthermore, a hole is inevitably formed on the disparity map estimated by using an optical flow method and the disparity map of the former frame; at that moment, a pixel corresponding to the hole can be found out in the later frame; and with reference to a pixel with the most similar color in adjacent pixels (for example pixels within a surrounding range of 3*3), a disparity value of the pixel with the most similar color is used as the disparity value of the pixel corresponding to the hole.
