The disappearance of the city of Luni

2000
Abstract The morphological evolution of the study area and the characteristics of the deposits which cover the Roman settlement point to a series of exceptional meteoric events which might have caused the disappearance of the ancient city of Luni. Archaeological studies have ascribed these events to the mid-7th century and the beginning of the 8th century, during a short cold-humid climatic interval which is considered responsible for other historically documented events.
