Solubilization of an antigen associated with certain bronchial tumours
1975
Abstract Epidermoid and anaplasic lung tumours have been solubilized and the soluble extracts used to raise antisera in rabbits and also in a goat. After suitable absorption, the antisera were found to be reactive in cross-over electrophoresis only with some lung tumour extracts and sera from several patients with epidermoid and anaplasic lung tumours. No reactivity was observed with sera from patients having other malignancies, including patients with lung metastases of various primary tumours, or to sera trom patients with benign lung disease. It was therefore concluded that at least one sumour associated antigen, called B 1 , was present in some lung tumours and in patients' fera.
