The present invention relates to systems and methods for detecting the peeling turbine engine. Specifically, in one embodiment, a system (10) comprises a multi-spectral pyrometry system (36), which is configured to receive a signal wavelength band of radiation (80) from the width of the turbine component (56), a broad wavelength band radiation signal (80) into a plurality of narrow wavelength band radiation signal (94), a turbine member is determined narrow wavelength band radiation signal (94) based on (56) emissivity (122), and based on the transmission rate (122) to detect (56) flaking (104) on the surface of the turbine component.
