The invention relates to a switching device for guiding and cutting of electric currents with a first mechanical contact arrangement (10), a semiconductor switch (20) which is connected in parallel to the first mechanical contact arrangement, a second mechanical contact arrangement (30), the mechanical in series to the first Contact arrangement is connected, and a switch electronics (50), which is designed for turning on and off of the semiconductor switch (20). According to the invention the electronic circuitry (50) is designed, during a closing operation of the first mechanical contact arrangement (10) the semiconductor switch (20) after a first predetermined time period t - 0 after initialization of the switching electronics to switch (50) and after a second predetermined period of time t - 1 off again, wherein the first predetermined period of time t - 0 of the switching electronics (50) depends on the first mechanical contact arrangement (10) is adjusted.
