Republicanizar la religión: el clero en el debate político de la independencia chilena, 1808-1814

espanolEl trabajo analiza, desde la perspectiva de la historia intelectual, la discusion teologica durante la primera fase de la independencia de Chile. Centrandose en el rol publico del discurso religioso y en la dimension politica del clero, el articulo examina los debates relativos al problema de la soberania popular, el derecho divino de los reyes, la justificacion religiosa del cambio politico y los esfuerzos por promover el republicanismo desde una perspectiva biblica. EnglishThis paper analyzes, from the perspective of intellectual history, the theological debate during the first period of Chilean independence. Focusing on the public role of religious discourse and the political dimension of the clergy’s activity, this work examines the discussions related to the problem of popular sovereignty, the theory of the divine right of kings, the religious justification of political change and the attempts to promote republican ideology from a Biblical perspective.
