Heteroepitaxial growth of phase-pure Lead Indium Niobate

Abstract In this study, we report heteroepitaxial growth of 100% perovskite phase Pb(In 0.50 Nb 0.50 ) O 3 [PIN] on BaTiO 3 nanoparticles by sol-gel method. The fraction of the perovskite phase increased from 93% in the unseeded sample to 100% in seeded samples. Lattice match between the cubic BaTiO 3 {220} and PIN{100} phases promote heteroepitaxial growth of PIN nanoparticles. Dielectric and ferroelectric characteristics of PIN thus prepared have also been studied and are reported.
