The Microstructure of Radiation Fog at Travis Air Force Base.

1973
Abstract : A field investigation of the microphysical and micrometeorological features of fog occurring near Travis AFB was conducted. Observations were obtained in 13 fogs which occurred on six evenings during January, 1973. The fogs which formed elsewhere and advected over the instrumented site ranged in depth from 10 to 100 m and persisted for periods ranging from 45 min to 5 hours. Observations of temperature, dew point, dew deposition, winds, vertical wind, net radiative flux, drop size and liquid water content are discussed in detail. Samples of fog water were also collected, and the chemical analyses of the fog water are discussed. (Author)
