An Altitude Compensator for Gasoline Engine UAV Applications

To improve the altitudinal performance of UAV gasoline engines,for the first time the authors propose and develop a design of altitude compensator(AC) for the TILLOTSON diaphragm carburetor economizer.The mechanically automatic adjustment of the AC together with its light structure leads to an apparent reduction in the fuel consumption,meanwhile enhancing the flight altitude and time greatly.Furthermore a calibration method of the AC intercepting fuel mass has been derived,being beneficial for the engineering requirement.The results from great many of flight experiments we demonstrate that the improved or modified carburetor with rational structure and high efficiency can resolve the contradiction problem between the UAV cruise height and the sustainable time.
