quaternary ammonium salts of siloxane, and extrudable compositions and incorporating the plies

1997
The quaternary ammonium salt may be either a siloxane trisiloxane (A) having a quaternary ammonium group at the terminal and a molecular weight of about 1600-1700, a siloxane of the ABA type (B) having a polydispersity of up to about 3.0 and a molar mass by weight of about 800-2000, the siloxane central pattern being terminated at each end with a quaternary ammonium salt group of siloxane. The salt of the invention has anti-microbial properties. Incorporated into an extrudable composition, it migrates to the surface during extrusion and provides the article resulting from the anti-microbial surface.
