Untersuchung anomaler Bewegungen bei wegen Esotropie operierten Kindern

1987
Retrospective examinations were performed on 90 children exhibiting anomalous retinal correspondence after surgery for esotropia. The residual angle was between 0 and 5 degrees in 73% of the cases, and larger than 5 degrees in 23% of the cases. Anomalous fusion movements were studied in the children in both groups. The positivity of the prism adaptation test and the progressive prism compensation test was significantly greater in the group with residual esotropia above 5 degrees. The tests applied do not require the child's cooperation, and are therefore suitable for detecting and following up anomalous retinal correspondence. They furnish information which facilitates postoperative prism treatment as well as indicating the extent of any subsequent reoperation.
