A Deep Learning Based Method for Heat Pump Dryer User Classification

Energy consumption by the residential sector contributes significantly to overall worldwide energy consumption. Insights from residential energy usage play an important role in efficient use of appliances. The condenser dryer is among the highest energy consuming appliance. In this article, a Deep Learning based method is proposed to identify efficient heat-pump dryers. Results indicate the proposed method performs better than traditional event based and machine learning methods. The method presented has been successfully implemented and deployed in a cloud-based distributed big data platform and provides services to a live product currently offered to more than 300,000 European customers.
