Lésions des membres par arme à feu, aspects épidémiologiques et modalités évolutives: à propos de 50 cas

The aim of this study is to establish the epidemiological profile and the modalities of the evolution for patients treated in our service for limbs injuries due to fire weapons. Patients and methods: It's a retrospective study from January 2000 to December 2005, concerning 50 patients of whom 45 males with a mean age of 32,5 years. The Cauchoix and Duparc, Winquist and Association of the Orthopaedists classifications were used. Results: The occurring circumstances were dominated by attacks and demonstrations. Fifty six fractures and wounds with 34 to the lower limbs were recorded. Sixteen wound's infections, 4 gangrenes, 6 bone's infections, 3 non-unions and 14 mal unions were the main complications. One patient died. Conclusion: The fire weapon injured of the extremities in our service is a young male about 21 to 30 years, practising a liberal profession. He presents septic and mechanical complications needing surgical re operations. He dies once on fifty.
