Reading Notes - can teaching children to read music during developmental stages of reading enhance their decoding of text?

This is a randomised controlled trial, attempting to answer the above question. Because of its size and duration, the research data is not definitive , but the results are unambiguous. The research contributes to the data informing the topical field of phonics, but without subscribing to a particular view of whether or not the teaching of phonics is the best way to teach early reading.
