An implant (1000, 1100, 1120, 1150) for relieving pain associated with the spinal implant is positionable between adjacent spinous processes of the spine, the implant comprising: a first unit including a central body (1002), and a first wing (1004, 1122, 1154), said first wing being located at a first end of said central body, said central body a second end; a sleeve (1016) disposed on said central body, said sleeve at least partially spaced from said central body in order to allow deflection of said sleeve toward said central body; a second wing (1032, 1124, 1162); and a device (1014, 1036, 1160, 1166) that secures the second wing to the second end of the central body with the sleeve between the first and second wings.
