SnO quantum dots confined in a glass matrix

2002
We report on the formation and detection of SnO2 quantum dots confined in a glass matrix. The average radius of these agglomerates embedded in a B2O3 substrate was evaluated in 5, 10, and 14 A for a 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3% dilution of the semiconductor in the glass, respectively. The characterization of the samples was performed by EXAFS (Extended X-ray Absorpion Fine Structure) and XRD (X-ray diffraction) spectroscopies.
