Overcoming the Barriers to Successful Participation by Minorities.

Underrepresented minority students exhibit wide variation in many characteristics but they share in common participation rates below those of the majority population as well as attrition rates which are higher. The barriers to equal participation in higher education are known, as are ways of overcoming them. Regardless of the obstacles, there is no alternative to the simultaneous pursuit of quality and equality.
