A semiconductor electrode comprising a substrate having optically transparent properties, a transparent conductive layer which is provided on a light receiving surface of the substrate, and a porous semiconductor, which is composed of a metal oxide and is provided on the transparent conductive layer. On the porous semiconductor at least a dye and a thiophene-containing organic compound are adsorbed.
