Ultrasonic Transmission Imaging In Mfdical Diagnosis

1982
In contrast to the well known puls-echo technique, ultrasonic transmission imaging provides information on the attenuating properties of the tissue under examination. The method is based on the same principles as optical imaging with lenses and the results are displayed in a view comparable to x-ray images. We report on technical characteristics of an ultrasonic transmission imaging system and present results showing details of the skeleton as well as soft tissue structures of normal persons.© (1982) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
