PHOTOCATALYTIC DEGRADATION OF ORANGE II USING MESOPOROUS TiO 2 (P25) AND FENTON REACTIVE (Fe 2+ /H 2O2)
2012
This study is devoted to the degradation of orange II in aqueous solution using two advanced oxidation systems (TiO 2/UV, Fe 2+ /H 2O2). The experiments, carried out with a titanium dioxide s uspension, showed that the photodegradation rate of orange II is independent of pH. However, when Fenton reactive (Fe 2+ /H 2O2) was used, the effect of pH on the disappearance of orange II becomes significant. The photodegradation rate of Orange II increases when the pH decreases. The result showed that the abatement of Orange II increases when the concentration of TiO 2 was varied from 0.0 g/L to 1.0 g/L. The byproduct analysis showed th e formation of sulfate, nitrate, nitrite and ammonium indicating the mineralization of Orange II.
