A Computer-Based Dialog for Deriving Energy Conservation for Motion in One Dimension

This paper describes a student-computer dialog for beginning or intermediate physics classes. The dialog enables the student to take some initiative in showing that energy conservation in one dimension is a consequence of the laws of motion.
