Doença do trato urinário inferior em gatos domésticos (Felis domesticus, Linnaeus, 1758), atendidos no Hospital Veterinário da Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco

2007
With the aim to evaluate the main clinical aspects in animals with lower urinary tract disease (LUTD), data of the clinical files were used from the cats of the ambulatory of the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE). The results obtained showed that the LUTD occurrence was higher in males of unknown breed, 2 to 4 years of age, which were fed exclusively with industrialized dried food, and the observed signs were urethral obstruction in males, dysuria, haematuria, licking of the genitals and polachyuria. The urinalysis showed haematuria, proteinuria and crystaluria. As to the cats from the Veterinary Hospital of UFRPE with LUTD, the males were more affected than the females that consumed industrialized dried food, which may be responsible for the development and severity of this disease.
