Filter arithmetic operation system and filter arithmetic operation circuit

PURPOSE: To promote high performance of a picture processing system or the like by suppressing impulse noise or spot noise while leaving a high frequency component of a picture signal so as to quicken the arithmetic operation of the picture processing system or the like thereby improving the high frequency characteristic. CONSTITUTION: A median extract circuit MED is mainly made up of 1st-3rd maximum value extract circuits comparing two different samples among three consecutive samples SI-1, SIn and SIn+1 through combination and selecting a larger sample, a 1st minimum value extract circuit selecting samples extracted by the 1st and 2nd maximum value extract circuits which is smaller, and a 2nd minimum value extract circuit selecting a sample of the samples selected by the 3rd maximum value extract circuit and the 1st minimum value extract circuit which is smaller, and an n-th order sample of an output signal SO is obtained by adding a median Smed extracted by the median extract circuit MED and an n-th order sample SIn of the input signal SI.
