Small-scale soil map of Russia and adjacent countries : New level of geographic generalization

1996
The new soil map, scale 1:4 M, has been compiled following traditions of genetic soil geography; it is similar in conceptual approaches to the soil map of the Russian Federation, scale 1:2.5 M, and presents new information on soils and soil cover. It is complemented by an insert map of man-induced changes in soils and by a table with soil spectra in zonal and facies coordinates. The soil-cartographic traditions of the Russian school are provided by the legend structure, conventional colors and symbols for soils, and hatchings for soil cover features. The new map is compared with the abovementioned and the FAO World maps in terms of contents and means of cartographic presentation.
