Comparison between sirolimus-eluting stent and paclitaxel-eluting stent on the risk of stent thrombosis-a meta-analysis from 9 randomized trials

Objective To provide the available evidence on the safety usage of stent,the difference between the sirolimus-eluting stent (SES) and paclitaxel-eluting stent (PES)in the risk of stent thrombosis were compared in this study.Methods 8313 patients from 9 randomized SES versus PES trials were enrolled and followed-up for 6to 37 months.The morbility and morbidity of the stent thrombosis were subsequently meta-analyzed by revman 4.2 software.Results Compared to PES,the risk of stent thrombosis reduced significantly in SES group(HR 0.68;95%CI 0.48～0.96,P=0.03),while the death rate showed no significantly difference between the two groups(HR 1.00;95%CI 0.77～1.29,P=0.98).Conclusion No significant difference between the two DES on the risk of death was found in this study.Sirolimus-eluting stent had the superiority in lowering the risk of stent thrombosis,but not the risk of death when compared with PES.
