Chemical sensors for environmental pollutant determination

Abstract The development of industry and agriculture not only raises human living standards, but also causes environmental pollution issues. Monitoring pollutants is an essential measure to protect the environment from toxic pollutants. Chemical sensors are widely used for the detection of pollutants. This chapter provides a brief review on the recent development of chemical sensors for pollutant determinations. Those chemical sensors were classified into electrochemical and optical types based on the transducer technology. Their fabrication and application on detecting pollutants in water are described.
