A missense mutation of the nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) gene (Glu298Asp) in five patients with coronary artery disease--case reports.

1999
The authors report five patients with a missense mutation of the endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) gene (Glu 298 Asp) who have angiographically proven coronary artery disease (CAD). They compare their clinical findings and coronary arteriographic characteristics. They conclude that these case reports show that this mutation is not solely responsible for development of CAD. Diabetes mellitus, smoking, and hyperlipidemia are other risk factors.
