MAC Protocol for UWB Wireless Sensor Networks

Ultra-Wideband(UWB) is an attractive physical layer technique in Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs). It has some unique characteristics which pose significant challenges and great opportunities in the design of MAC layer. After describing IR-UWB signal model,some open research issues in this field are discussed in detail. Some recent novel MAC protocols for UWB networks are reviewed and analyzed. Taking account of application requirements,several future research directions are put forward.
