Effect of embryo irradiation on development of the thymus and formation of the T-lymphocyte population

Irradiation of pregnant mice causes destruction of the embryonal thymus and delays its colonization with lymphocytes, T-helper maturation, and elimination of T-lymphocyte precursors. After birth splenic colonization with lymphocytes, particularly with T helpers and T suppressors, is decresed.
