1D vascular hemodynamics

Abstract This chapter introduces 1D hemodynamic equations in a single vessel and their extension to a network of vessels through boundary and coupling conditions of different types. Advanced approaches use 1D hemodynamic models as a part of multiscale modeling. 0D–1D, 3D–1D, and 3D–0D–1D multiscale models are described. Numerical methods are also discussed. Modifications of reduced order models, which account for physiological conditions and some pathologies, are presented.
