The invention aims to provide the rice ABA receptor OsPYL3 (Pyrabactin Resistance Like) gene, and the coded protein and application thereof. The nucleotide sequence of the OsPYL3 gene is shown in SEQ ID NO:1. The amino acid sequence of the coded protein is shown as SEQ ID NO:2. OsPYL3 gene-overexpressed transgenic rice can resist cold and drought better than non-transgenic rice, and defense capability of rice to outside threat is improved. The OsPYL3 gene disclosed by the invention is used for improving the cold resistance, the drought-resistance and the resistance capability of rice to outside threats.
